Gravity and Slime Project

Gravity and Slime Project

Explore gravity with slime!

Supplies Needed

• 147 ml. Elmer’s Glow in the Dark Glue
• 177 ml. Elmer’s Glitter Glue
• 147 ml. Elmer’s Translucent Colour Glue
• 3 bowls (one for each colour of slime)
• 258 ml. Elmer's Magical Liquid
• Kinetic Sand®

Kinetic Sand® is a registered trademark of Spin Master Ltd.

Instructions

  1. Pour each type of glue into a separate bowl.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of Magical Liquid and mix well. Then add 1 more tablespoon of Magical Liquid and mix. You will notice the mixture becoming harder to mix and slime begins to form.
  3. Take the slime out and begin kneading it with both hands. If needed/too sticky, add a little magical liquid (1/2 tablespoon) at a time to get desired feel of slime.
  4. Mix Kinetic Sand® into the slime made with translucent colour glue.
  5. Watch SciShow’s YouTube video about gravitation with your class.

    Gravity and Slime Project

  6. Are you ready to use slime to learn about gravitation? Work with your class to come up with some gravitation tests for your slime. Throw each kind of slime against a wall and see which one will reach the ground first. Toss the slime onto the ceiling and predict which one unsticks first. Hold out your slime to see which one drops to the ground first.

  7. Once you’re done with your testing, have your class get out their lab journals and answer the journal prompt in short answer response.

*Adult supervision is required; this project is not appropriate for children under the age of 3 years. Thoroughly wash your hands before and after making and playing with slime.
